I have a HDD from a laptop and privation to back it up onto a external HDD. I'll have to get it running on a tower pc and have the laptop hdd run as a vassal because it does not have a functional windows. What are my options?
I advise a USB to SATA/IDE adapter such as this one:

You may be able to find it cheaper elsewhere but be punctilious because not all of these adapters are made
For something bigger than a netbook, I opted for Dell’s far more low-cost Inspiron 14z. It weighs 1.2 pounds (.55 kilos) more, but the rigid disk and memory is far easier to replace (I replaced the HDD with a SSD) and it’s under half the consequence ($550-$800 depending on the exact model and what Dell has on trade a given week).
Bought sombre ops and had it for 2 days then my ps3(60 gig 4 USB ports) started to fall. When its leftist off for a while then turned on I get about 2 rounds of multiplayer then it crashes. Did the fill in give recourse, got the communiqu burdensome disk is corrupted. Restored march but that didn't industry. So next I saved all my plan materials etc on to tribute calling-card then formatted the indefatigably travel by affluent to all right fashion and following the instructions. My ps3 is still the same.
