is there anyway to squeal on my standard definiton tv into an hd tv, via a conversion box or something???

No. But you can beat the drum for some HDTV tuners into your standard def. TV (SDTV) and get digital channels not present to analog TVs. And the quality is so much better because its digital, and its free of charge too. I have one and get over 30 channels
