i have a phillips dvd contestant that has an hdmi output to transform common movies into hd movies. can i also play movies that are already in hd?

No. The electronics and optics in your Philips DVD contestant are designed to only play DVD discs, even though they do "upscale" them to HD when playing via the HDMI create.

With both Netflix and Amazon’s LoveFilm starting video-streaming services in the U.K. within the last few months there might not seem much cell for a rival. But U.K. electrical retailer Dixons thinks there could be a furnish for its offering of movies and TV shows to rent or buy online.
