Is it possible to play a regular dvd on a blu-ray dvd player?

I heard that they've stopped making hd dvd players. I have multiple dvds that wouldnt ever be made into blu ray disks. would i still be capable to play them on a blu-ray player if they stopped making uninterrupted dvd players?

Almost all Blu-Ray players will player your typical DVD's I personnaly have not seen a player that can not play a DVD, but have heard there a are yoke. A Blu-Ray player will also upconvert a standard DVD to near HD value, not quit as good as a Blu-Ray
