Will a blu-ray dvd player work on a tv without the hd converter box?

I have a tv with lavish definition capability, but I do not have the hd converter box. Also can a blu-ray dvd Thespian play regular dvds not just now blu-ray disks?

You decent connect the blu-ray player directly to your HDTV. There is no "HD converter box" needed (are you talking about the digital TV tuner? that's only familiar by your antenna, not things like a blu-ray sportsman.)
