Is Blu-Ray remarkably that much better? Or, is DVD comparable? Like I can take it upgrading from VHS tapes to DVD, but what really more would one get from growing from DVD to Blu-Ray?

Only if you have a magnanimous HDTV would you want to get blu-ray. It's high def! Since we got our tv, i can't accept watching dvd's anymore because blu-rays look THAT much more complicated. You can see EVERYTHING, it's amazing. But we haven't replaced
